Treatment ResultsMAT® treatments appear to address one of the basic patho-physiologic defects associated with diabetes. As a result, MAT® treatments have a broad range of effects. Many diabetic patients report improvements in multiple organ systems while on weekly MAT® treatments. Clinical improvements seen in patients on weekly MAT® treatments can be divided into two types. The first occurs at 6 weeks to 3 months. These early improvements include better blood glucose control, improved ability to recognize impending hypoglycemia, improved wound healing, and a feeling of having "more energy" which results in increased physical activity. A second type of improvement is not seen until the patient has been on the therapy for 6 to 16 months, or even longer. This second type of improvement is the slowing of the progression of diabetic complications such as retinopathy or nephropathy. This effect of delaying or halting the progression of complications has continued for years in some patients, as long as the patients are maintained on weekly MAT® treatments. MAT® treatments cannot reverse tissue damage, however, so it is important to begin MAT® treatments before the complications of diabetes become far advanced. For example, the longer renal disease has been present, the less likely it is that MAT® treatments can stabilize or slow the progression of the disease.
